(DJ) DOCTOR HEARTACHE

I love rare old records from mid-50s to late 60s, obscure Early Soul, R&B, Popcorn, Rockabilly & Country stuff.
Wanna play my records everywhere I can to make people happy. :-)

It’s always also bit like a little history-experience in music and yeah, it sure is my kind of time-traveling maybe.

Come and be my guest! :-)

Chuck Bowers – You And I Are In The Same Mood (Decca, 1958)

A moody medium-popcorn tune that always makes me wonder.. ;-)

Johnny Bond – All I Can Do Is Cry (Columbia, 1957)

Yeah, that one always chills with it’s rhythm, it’s the best version to me in anyway. :-)

Ocie Smith – Lighthouse (Cadence, 1957)

What can I say about it, it may a classic, but it always brings me back to my teen-years somehow – I first heard it when I was 14 I think, and I thought „Wowo, WHAT the *** is THAT??“ So, it was one of my very first records. :-)

Rockin‘ Dave Allen – Alone (JIN, 1960)

This one is always quite goosebumping me in a really nice way..^^

Roy Acuff Jr. – Turn That Frown Upside Down (Hickory, 1966)

Gosh, I just can’t resist that tune… <3 ^^

Barry Gordon – The World Is Mine (UA, 1965)

I always loved that one, it spoke for me while each crush I’ve ever had, until the broken hearts came up.. :(

Duffy Power – What Now? (Fontana, 1961)

Here’s my pick for moments where I just wanna rest myself and cry… :/ I always play it because, I just WANNA hear it – the song never looeses it’s tragical magic. An absolutely masterpiece, and a tune that maybe brought me to songwriting in my middle-teens.. Wish I could thank you Duffy!!! :-(

Bob Newkirk – Rhythm Or Blues (Clinton, 1961)

That one is just loud, but nice in it’s dirty way – I don’t play it often, it’s a tune for really special situations I think.. ;-) ^^

The Gum Drops – Natural Born Lover (King, 1956)

Well, THIS is the Song that I name or play when people are asking me „What the *** is Popcorn-music?“ and I tell them „THIS IS POPCORN!^^“

Bobby Curtola – Hitchhiker (Del-Fi, 1963)

Bobby Curtola was always one my top vocal-ideals beside Elvis Presley! :-)

Larry Hall – Rebel Heart (Strand, 1961)

I really love that one!! :-) I always liked his clear and yet kinda slightly breathy voice!!

Barbara English – Fever (Roulette, 1962)

There may be many „Fever“ versions in my collection, but that is my favourite! :-D

This one picks me up everytime right from the beginning and makes me fall into tunnel vision while hearing – I just LOVE it!!!!

I really don’t like dogs (more the cat type), but THIS one always gets me, I just can’t explain!!!^^ :-)

Crash Craddock – I Want That (Coronet, 1959)

Mr. Crash Craddock, with his absolutely crazy tune „I Want That“, later covered by Bobby Hendricks, Johnny Kidd and perhaps some others – always great to play!!!^^ :-D

Doug Powell – The Wheel Of Love (Decca, 1959)

When the time is right for some early teensound-treasures!! :-D Thank you Doug for that one! :-)

Archie Campbell – Ol‘ Man Mose (RCA, 1960)

Absolutely nice interpretation of an ol‘ classic written by Louis Armstrong!^^

Also one of my absolutely early teen-favourites!!^^ Still picks me up every time with it’s beautiful croony kind of charm! :-D

Gene Vincent – Crazy Beat (Capitol, 1963)

Yeah! That tune always takes me downstairs with it’s simply crazy crazy beat!^^

Mike Smith – That’s What I’d Do (ERA, 1962)

Oh gee, how I could get on a rocket with this song and fly just faaaar far far away, where no one has ever been.. Thank you dear Joy Byers for writing THIS one (and so many tunes also Elvis recorded) – you must have been such a powerful and just COOL woman – wish I could have met you… <3 <3

Roy Hamilton – Crazy Feelin‘ (Epic, 1958)

Well, I think, that one doesn’t need any words to leave about, ‚cept that it’s just an absolutely cool tune to happy sway across the floor!!!!

Kenny Rankin – My Popular Baby (Decca, 1958)

That’s why I’d never go out with a promi-girl.. *kidding* ;-) That tune is just a funny one – nothing serious, but I like it^^

Ronnie Self – Instant Man (Decca, 1962)

Oh my, that one always makes you wanna dance and smile!! :-D

Steve Alaimo – Blue Fire (Dickson, 1960)

Yeah, I know, many DJ*anes are putting that tune the table, but it’s one of those that always set’s the fire and makes way clear for all that’s yet to come.. :-)

Barry Allen – Hot Sunshine (Dot, 1965)

Is it me, or Is it hot in here? ^^ ;-D Gee, I don’t wanna miss that tune on a night!! :-)

Judy Henske – High Flying Bird (Elektra, 1963)

Hmm, yap, that one sure it NICE – I could even play it TWICE hihi!^^ Love you Judy, you’re just COOL!!!!! :-)

Rose Hardaway – Senor Blues (Decca, 1959)

I wonder, how the ** did the Lord create Rose Hardaway?? She was just amazing and I love ALL of her records!! Her version „I Only Have Eyes For You“ (the B-side of that 7inch) is simply the best you’ve EVER EVER heard, – I mean, from the moment that you hear it – you just CAN’T resist it’s thrill (wanna bet?) <3

Peggy Lee – Sneakin‘ Up On You (Capitol, 1965)

Ohhh dear, you fully shook me up with that song Peggy!!^^ Thank you really much!!!! :-)

Aaaahhhhhhh, that is just.., oh gee!!! Genius Bernadette, you made it!!! How did they come up with these stunning break-transitions? <3 <3 :-D

Shorty Billups – Bend A Little (UA, 1960)

Why ain’t this one ever got into the hit-parade??? Such a mover – you just can’t keep still your knees when you hear it!!!!

The Marcels – Twistin‘ Fever (Colpix, 1962)

Ohhh yeah! You can’t go cooler than „the Marcels“ handling their certain kind of FEVER!! ^^ <3 <3

Maurice Fontain – I’m Frantic (Decca, 1958)

Hey!! You run too fast!! ;-) Also a really good one!!^^

Macy & Company – Sixteen Tons (Vantage, 1969)

One of the best „Sixteen Tons“ versions I know and own, I just love the mood it puts me in, with it’s curtain kind of groove!!^^ A really rare tune by the way, and my copy is quite noisy here and there, but I still absolutely love it!

Mel Tormé – Comin‘ Home Baby (Atlantic, 1962)

Sure, it may be a classical, but also one of the first records I ever bought in my middle-teens from my pocket-money at a flea-market in Berlin many many years and tears ago. :-)

Lynn Conner – Laughing At Me (Monument, 1963)

Believe me, you should NEVER laugh at Lynn!!^^ Her musicians could chase you down and crush you! ;-) That tune always overflows the floor!!!^^ Wish I’d had the chance to thank you Lynn !!! <3 <3 <3 <3 :-D

There’s no other like Ella!!! <3 <3 <3 :-D That tune just gets you in the groove!!^^

Deborah Walley – Sometimes In The Darkest Hour (Dee Gee, 1965)

Time for speech-tunes. A song I pick to mend my broken feelings and mirror all my faded dreams they never supposed to ever come true in any way… :/ Oh Debbie, WHY have you been married to John Ashley..? He later produced series (such as „The A-Team“) that were completely discriminatory against women… I know, you were „in love“ and you perhaps just didn’t see but, you definitely deserved someone better! A shame there’ll be no chance I can ever tell this… You’re great dear Debbie!! :-)

Jeanie Allen – I Really Love You (Mala, 1959)

That one I think just rocks!!^^ Thank you Jeanie!! <3

Henrietta & The Hairdooz – You Got A Lot To Learn (Liberty, 1963)
